Why has rap music turned into nothing but sex, money, and drugs. Why does it preach violence and hatred?

Rap music today has changed alot during the past years. Why is it now about sex, drugs, money...when before it was about opening the eyes of the blind and seeing what life was like for people who dealt with racial discrimination, violence, ect... I feel as though rap has lost its real roots and turned into something fake. You see people walking down the street with gold teeth and shirts to thier knees. I want to know why it is that people seem as though they have to follow that...

Why has rap music turned into nothing but sex, money, and drugs. Why does it preach violence and hatred?
they have eyes to see, but they do not see. they are catering to the unfortunate common condition of man-kind.

hatred and "kill 'em all" attitude". they even go so far as to degrade their own race by frequent use of the word "******" in referring to themselves or other dark skinned peoples. And THAT word is TRULY degrading as it especially refers to SUB-HUMAN species...it's sad, and needs

to be dealt with.
Reply:Why r ya'll acting like Rockn Roll and Heavy Metal and a lot of other music doesn't talk about Sex, Violence, and drugs???? GET REAL!!!!! Report It

Reply:rappers rap about what they either seen or done. it thats what most rappers come from. sex drugs money lies %26amp; violence.
Reply:because they all try to act "cool" with the scene...the people from the hood used to want to get a better life, but now everybody wants to act poor and tough. Personally i dont get it, but they just do that. Rap has really degraded what african americans have been trying to accomplish. Equal rights, but now they call each other 'nigs" and stuff like that. Their ancesters wouldnt be happy w/ that...
Reply:That's what sells, and 80% of sales are to white suburban teens.
Reply:why do cowboy`s wear boots?
Reply:Most of the music you are hearing is commercialized. Rap and hip-hop used to be socially meaningful at one time. Then corporations started realizing they could make money off of it. Then came MTV, or as you prefer, Empty Vee. I'd type more but now I'm kinda bummed out.
