Stalked through the jungle near Coba - anyone with a similar experience?

My boyfriend and I were recently traveling in the Coba ruins in the Yucatan Jungle. We got to the end of one of the main trails and saw a jungle trail leading WAY out into the jungle that we thought might be cool.

We walked out a few miles without seeing anything and when we turned around, we discovered that a man hiding under thatched-together palm had been stalking us through the jungle. We literally saw a blanket of palm coming around a corner towards us.

When we saw it and gasped, it stopped and ran in the other direction (probably because it noticed us). We had no way to go but back (where the palm-person had just gone) and when we got to the mouth of the trail there was a man standing there with a whip and about 5 gold teeth. He was speaking in some other language - Mayan maybe? - and we sprinted away, back towards the main trails.

Has anyone had a similar experience? I'm wondering if I should report this to someone.

LOL
Reply:lucky you made it out without a poison dart in your azz. those indigenious people would rather you not be there. strangers almost always spell death and destruction for those people.
Reply:he just didn't want you there it was non hostile good thing you left or it would have been. yes you should report it
Reply:you should report it and don't use things that can be tracked

like credit cards, cell phones, checks. there was a reason they followed you.
