Sterotypes ! help me please !?

okay i have to do this research paper .. %26amp; its on African-Americans .. i was given 10 sterotypes %26amp; what i have to do is find someone who doesn't relate to the sterotype and is African-American .. here are the sterotypes .


1. all have big lips .


2. all like chicken .


3. all are ghetto .


4. all have big butts .


5. all go to church .


6. all are poor .


7. all like in the projects .


8. all have gold teeth .


9. all steal .


10. all speak with ebonic terms .

Sterotypes ! help me please !?
well my brother is adopted and he is an african american and none of those sterytypes fit him (exept he goes to chuch, he is a true christian)

Reply:You can try some of the famous rappers. Also, try people like Will Smith or other actors. I would say Sen. Obama, but he's half-white.
Reply:#1. Look at some pictures of actresses. Halle Berry and Vanessa Williams come to mind.





#2. I don't know how you could find out if someone doesn't like chicken. Ask around? My mother and aunt wouldn't touch it, but they were Italian, so that doesn't help. They raised them as children and thought of them as pets.





3. I'm not sure what you mean by ghetto, but Roscoe Lee Brown was a very elegant, well educated, dignified actor. James Earl Jones, again very dignified. Paul Winfield was a Shakespearean actor.





4. I guess you're going to have to look at some pictures. The first person to come to mind for me was Judith Jamison from the Alvin Ailey Ballet. She had an exquisite body, perfect for a ballerine. I couldn't find a good picture for her. Maybe you can, or one of Raven Wilkinson, another ballerina. Katherine Dunham and Josephine Baker might be candidates for this category.





5. There's a book called African American Atheists and Political Liberation, something like that. I can't remember the author, but I think it's from the University of Florida Press.





6. There are tons of examples of athletes, musicians and actors who are rich.





7. Except the ones who live in mansions and regular houses. Do you know some African American people who live in your town?





8. I'm sitting next to two people who don't have gold teeth right now. But they're not famous.





9. How about Clarence Thomas, supreme court justice?





10. Go back to #3. Who knows what people do when they out of the public eye? I'd hate to have 24 hours scrutiny. I just can't imagine James Earl Jones saying anything except the King's English.
