Which is better to have a gold or white crown? and is gold too unsightly ?

i need 2 crowns on 2 premolars and do not know which would be best gold or white, there are 3 types for the white which are priced £200 £400 and £600 the latter being stronger and more natural looking, but the gold is £200 and i think that one would be stronger? also my dentist told me gold would be unsightly and wouldnt suit me, the tooth is right in the corner of my smille and only when i smile very widely can it be seen,

i dont know what best to do

what do you think?

any advice appriciated

if you can go for the white, I;ve got a gold one due to money restrictions and I hate it, I much prefer my white one
Reply:i think white would look better and defo more natural
Reply:Go with the white, your smile is worth the extra money. Why three prices for white? Porcelain is all the same, it's the metal it's fused to that should cost more.
Reply:well dont know if this helps but i would go with wat is a stronger one to put in ur teeth or to do wat eva and on the color go with wite its alot betta
Reply:Most dentists will want to use a porcelain clad crown on teeth that would be seen when you talk or smile. You will probably be happier with the Porcelain. The porcelain is applied over metal.
Reply:Well I understand where you're coming from but sometimes it all depends on the person. I have a gold crown right next to my top front teeth %26amp; it suits me, no i'm not a "chav" or whatever. The other thing is after a bit you don't notice it anymore. I'm having another gold crown put in but you'd only be able to see that one if I grinned like a cheshire cat %26amp; it's only gold 'cos I can't afford anything else. That's just got me thinking I might have another put in at the front, just call me jaws, lol, only kidding. Hope this helps a bit :-)

ps it's your choice what you choose your dentist is only thinking of his pocket %26amp; i've had my gold tooth for 14 years so far %26amp; no problems
Reply:GOLD IS BEST FOR THE LONG TERM. MOST DENTISTS CHOOSE THIS FOR THEIR OWN TEETH.
Reply:My boyf got a gold crown and it sounds like it's in the same place your talking about. Its hardly noticable and can only been seen slightly when he's laughing or also when he smiles very widely, like you said. I thought it would stand out by a mile but I was really surprised at how little it was noticable.
Reply:So interesting! In my office porcelain crowns are $595.00 while gold crowns are $695.00 due to the high price of gold at this time. I kid you not!!!! I have all porcelain crowns 3 total(all 1st molars the 3) but would not mind a gold crown on a molar but that is as far forward as I would care to go.
Reply:The gold teeth would almost definitly be seen and gold looks quite dark in the mouth so don't be surprised if they look almost black when in place. Dentistry is expensive but people see your smile every single day. People spend a few hundred on shoes or an outfit or even a holiday and nobody questions it. A crown lasts on average 10 years and it is well worth investing in a natural looking crown. Don't pay for a gold rown if you know that in 3 years time you will be getting married or something and you will need to get it all redone.
