I have a gap between 2 of my back teeth, it drives me mad as food gets stuck in it what should i do ?

i am 38 and my dentist said its because my gums are receeding. he tried a filling but it fell out within weeks, now he says i can only have a gold tooth or have the tooth removed and capped neither of which i really want to do.


the gap isnt huge-maybe 1-2 mm narrowing to less than 1mm





i was wondering if theres a strong temporary filling i can apply myself ? maybe something like epoxy ??

Chew on the other side of your mouth. That will always help if it comes to the point where you are going nuts and you don't want any dental work done! That had to be done when I got my really bad cavaties, it drove me crazy!





Try getting braces! If you get them, your teeth will shift close together and your gap will be gone! Well yeah, it still has to do with dental work and it hurts every once in a while a little bit, but hey, you want the gap gone don't you?!





And third, listen to your dentist. He is always right! Maybe a gold tooth isn't so bad after all! You'll be so cool! I want one!

A lost filling? Or are your teeth seperating because of the gum problem?


Where was the filling placed? Why did he say that you have to have a crown or an extraction? Because of the gum problem or because there's not enough tooth structure?





Do not use anything but temporary filling material in your mouth.





Sounds like you need to ask a few more questions. Unless you have answers to all of the above questions.


In the meantime, you need to floss the area in question or you'll have more problems.


Get a SOFT toothbrush, and don't brush so hard, this way you don't make the gum recession worse.

I'm thinking of knocking out the front two and putting in one big gold tooth so I look classy.

You could be missing ALL your teeeeeeeeeeeth and be non-white trash in my eyes. Just think, if you have 1 big tooth instead of 2 teeeeeeeeeeeeeth, you don't have as much to floss, or you'll never have a peice of food or something, that everyone is stairing at, but fail to tell you, when you're talking to them!

Braces with gold?

I have an open-faced gold tooth but I wanna get braces is there any way I can do this without taking out the gold tooth because my real tooth is filed down under it?

One possiblity is that your dentist will place a metal ring (kind of like a crown) around the tooth with the gold and then bond the bracket to the ring.

Lumineers and a Permanent Gold tooh! Should I or shouldnt I?

This is something that i have been soooo attracted to for a pretty long time. I think a single, permanent, gold tooth is very unique and also extremely charming! Im not talking about a whole gril, lit up with colored diamonds and off colored gold. Nothing extremely flashy like the guys you see on mtv. I want 1 bright 14kt gold tooth on the left side of my mouth, I think its really classy! Maybe a little tiny diamond inside?





Do you guys and most importantly girls agree? The few people I have met with a gold tooth have such great smiles and are so charming right off the bat!





What about lumineers also? They seem pretty flawless do any of you have them?





I really really am looking into this, but the only info I can find online is cheap "grillz" that look terrible, nothing like what I want. Your feedback would be GREATLY appreciated!! Thanks!!!

I think it looks like you had a really rotten tooth that you had to have onlaid, so I don't think oh cool, gold, I think oh he/she doesn't take good care of their teeth.
Reply:Personally I wouldn't like the gold tooth. Years ago when I was in school people sometimes would have a gold one because beleive it or not it was cheaper then getting a crown or cap. People knew they had bad teeth then...
