Are blacks generally wealthy?

Are most Blacks affluent? I notice that they tend to have the fanciest cars, flashiest clothes, attention-getting jewelry and latest cell phones. I've seem too many to count with a ring on every finger and mouth full of gold teeth.





I go to so-called poor black neighborhoods and see many things I will never be able to afford. These items are usually beyond the reach of the poor so I'm assuming Blacks are generally affluent nowadays.





I assume that they have all these material trappings because their financial priorities are 100% in order and all their other needs have been met. I hope to get there one day.

The poor that you are referring to tend to buy the small material things in life that are within their means. Don't begrudge them for buying a cell phone and wearing jewelry.

Reply:I don't think there is a race that is "generally wealthy" the world is full of the poor, of all ethnic backgrounds. There is always more poor/middle class than the wealthy.





Also, where I live, blacks are generally poor. Perhaps the wealth of a certain ethnicity depends on location.
Reply:There is no way to answer this without sounding racist. BUT... if you are looking in the poor black neighborhoods the people there probably bought cheap knockoff stuff or stole it. Either that or they are drug dealers. I will say the same about the white people in poor areas too.

Reply:It's more of a trend than a way of life. You'll find this in any race/culture,etc. The people who live this way - with the nice cars and "bling" are doing it to stand out and try to impress each other. The same reason there are "rednecks" who have to wear as much camouflage as possible to stand out and impress among each other. The same reason most Asian cultures will pursue education as far as possible because they are considered nothing without it. Yes, these are all stereotypes, but it's just a way of wording things to try to better explain a point.
Reply:I'm black. And I'm wealthy. But my parents dont drive around in a giant SUV, with gold fillings and bling. That's all just materialism; a needless waste of money. All kinds of people can have money, but only the ones who invest, spend, and save wisely are truly rich.
