My experience with Religious Vultures.?

Recently a friend passed away. The family gave the local church people permission to come into the house and take things for their mission work. However, these religious people used the "open house" as their own personal opportunity to shop for free for their families. I became so upset watching them ransack this poor person's house, I closed myself in the house, not wishing to watch it any more. It was like party central and these supposed friends of the deceased couldn't even take a day off on the day this person was getting buried, but instead backed trucks up to the house and loaded up. What religion were these people taught??? I have called them vultures, locust and every other thing I can think of. It reminds me of old time grave robbers stealing gold teeth off the dead. The family didn't seem to care, but I felt this poor woman was taken advantage of when she was unable to protect herself. Your thoughts??

My experience with Religious Vultures.?
agreed. if they were selling the items and giving it to the church or some kind of mission work that would be one thing. sounds like it was a free for all which is pathetic.

i recall once when my grandma was still alive that my aunt and cousin walked around the house listing things they wanted when grandma kicked the bucket..i recall being very pissed off and i've disliked them ever since.
Reply:My thought is it is her families business and not yours and they did not seem to have a problem with donating the itmes. Posbbily that is exactly what the woman wanted to happen.
Reply:It's all too common and I agree with you. Have you ever noticed that the people who proclaim their "Christianity" the loudest are usually the biggest hypocrites? It's disgusting and I'm sick of their hypocrisy too!
Reply:They'll pay for their misdeeds soon enough...everyone meets their Maker and must account for their actions on Earth. Maybe you can organize a fund raiser to help this woman's family replace some of their valuables.
Reply:All religion is a scam and a burden on society, I understand it does some good for people in need of some guidance. I suppose I'm being a little unfair, most religions are harmless and provide a service for those looking for it. I draw the line when the christian talaban trys to legislate my morality and tell me how to live my life. Id be alot more sapportive of things like churches and faith based organizations if they would just saty out of the lives of non-beleavers
Reply:While what you 'saw' may have seemed 'an excess' on the part of the people TAKING the stuff, you may have 'seen wrong' what was actually happening ... did your friend (or her family) KNOW these people, and did she (or her family) want EVERYTHING out of the house as soon as possible? When I 'die' I want my church to 'take everything' and use it for someone who 'needs it' and if that is the person who is 'picking it up' then so be it. I'll be 'dead' and my 'last good work' will be to be 'cremated' and have my ashes spread on someone's roses, because 'ash' is very 'healthy' for roses, and I won't 'need' my body or ANY of my 'things' after I die ... and yes, I do have kids ... and they 'know' my feelings on death, and they'll 'do what I ask' of them and not want to 'keep' anything that 'belonged to me' ... and my husband will do 'the same' thing, too ... and we'll be 'together in Heaven' in the end ...
Reply:So sorry for your lost. Let's try not to blame "religion" for the selfishness of people. Religion doesn't cause ignorance , people just use it as an excuse to fulfill their own desires. Remember that the things in this world will all fade away, it is what is stored up in Heaven that we need to focus on. Stay strong in YOUR faith and let others defend their own actions in the name of a "religion".
