Should I get a Gold tooth?

I have to have a crown on a tooth thats right next to one of my wisdom teeth. Enamel and Gold cost about the same, which should I get?

Should I get a Gold tooth?
Gold crowns have a better fit, they are %26quot;thinner%26quot;- so they can reduce the tooth less and have good occlusion, they can also last longer (because they have a better fit around the margins and stand up to mechanical wear in the mouth better). Gold is usually more expensive by about 25%. The gums typically tolerate gold crowns the best (less inflammation and bleeding around them).

Porcelain crowns are very natural looking and can also have a great fit. They can typically last 10- 15 years (sometimes even longer). They are less expensive than gold. You have to be a bit more meticulous with your flossing to maintain healthy gums around porcelain crowns.

I would NEVER recommend a stainless steel crown. They are not custom made and do not withstand the pressures and biological stresses in the mouth very well. The gum tissue is almost ALWAYS inflamed around stainless steel dental work.

It depends on whether people seeing it will bother you. Because even if it%26#039;s on the second to last tooth- if you laugh- people will see it. But gold will be your best dental investment in my opinion.

I would say about 80% of the people I work with in the dental field would choose a gold crown.

Hope this helps!!
Reply:Enamel if you aren%26#039;t a gangsta
Reply:I say enamel. Even though no one should be looking that far into your mouth, it looks a lot better.
Reply:Definitely enamel ...

Cosmetically, the gold has played out (unless there is some kind of statement you are trying to make) and the enamel is much stronger and durable.
Reply:Gold Is better. I have a friend who is a dentist and he always tell me that the gold crown is better. They last longer and they feel better right away. But never get a gold tooth on your incisors (front teeth) unless you want to look like fiddy cent, and don%26#039;t listen to those idiots that did not understand that it was a molar that no one will ever see accept your dentist. I bet your dentist agrees with me about the gold crown.
Reply:Ask about stainless steel crowns, they are cheaper.
Reply:Well your options are good! A gold crown will be more sound for molar teeth and will last for years. Porcelain will sometimes crack and fracture under the tremendous amount of pressure our jaws cause your teeth to endure.

A molar that far back isn%26#039;t going to be as noticeable when you smile.

Best of luck to ya. :)
Reply:It%26#039;s a back tooth and you chew with it. I will say full gold crown.

because you don%26#039;t have to worry about breaking it compare to porcelain or enamel colored crown the dentist will grind less tooth stucture. also gold is more biocompatible compare to any other material and its solid. but if you are more concern about how it looks back there where nobody will see it unles you do a lot of karaoke then go for a weaker crown which is porcelain fuse to gold.
