The legend of the gold tooth thief, did it ever really happen?

I hae heard the legend of the gold tooth thief at least a dozen times.

In one version, in the late 1800s there was a mountain man who would kill pioneers to steal their gold fillings.

Three versions of the legend from World War 2: the Nazis forcible removed gold fillings from Jewish and military prisoners, Japanese soldiers ripped the gold fillings from prisoners, American soldiers removed the gold fillings from Japanese prisoners.

More recently that gangbangers hunt down rival gang members and steal their gold fillings and/or gold teeth.

Does anyone know if any of this ever really happened or is it just an urban myth?

The legend of the gold tooth thief, did it ever really happen?
Yes, it used to be and may still be an career for some to take or steal good teeth. When Howard Hugh%26#039;s was alive, he had two gold teeth, just for looking at in his mouth, even he was robbed.

I don%26#039;t know if gold is used so much any more for teeth, silver even less....people like the white! never had a cavity look now!
