Why do cops racial profile young black males?
what i mean if a young black males has big rims on his nice car and a few gold teeth, why do they mess with them with no cause? We were at the barbershop and police pulled up at the parking lot and tried to write a ticket and a woman was running from a man he decided to mess with us, saying we were parked on an unapproved surface. there was not enough parking so we parked on the side where their were gravel and rock likes a country road. this is just one incident, tell me bout yours.

Black people only make up 12% of the population yet they (mostly young black males) are responsible for the majority of drug and violent crimes, followed by Hispanics then white people. The majority of the young black males that create crime are into hard rap and hiphop lifestyle with particular clothing and the cars with the big rims. Now you may not be into anything illegal but to quote Chris Rock "You are wearing the same uniform as the ones that are." So that is why the cops keep a closer watch or harass you, but the majority of the blame should not be on the cops, it should be on your fellow young black brother who is creating the stereotype of illegal activity.

Once again I am on a quest to get my boyfriend a birthday present. I've seem too many to count with a ring on every finger and mouth full of gold teeth. I go to so-called poor neighborhoods and see many things I will never be able to afford. These items are usually beyond the reach of the poor so I'm assuming Blacks are generally affluent nowadays. I assume that they have all these material trappings because their financial priorities are 100% in order. Is this assumption correct? I know a girl who is also black but she is definitely ghetto and sometimes I am so ashamed of her. She makes me want to blend in with the scenery. As for the hairstyles, that's just culture. In a way you kind of are but I understand how you feel. I am the kind of black person you described first. I speak properly and am not ghetto. I know a girl who is also black but she is definitely ghetto and sometimes I am so ashamed of her. She makes me want to blend in with the scenery. As for the hairstyles, that's just culture. I'll admit some are crazy but some are just an expression of our African roots and a symbol of pride in who we are. As for the gold teeth I completly agree, they make people look gross.

Is it really a big deal that white students had a "gansta" party?
As a Clemson student, I really dont understand why people are so upset about an off-campus party at someone's private apartment where white kids dressed up as gangstas and wore "ice" and fake gold teeth. If you ask me they were just degrading themselves by dressing like that and acting uneducated.
Why are blacks so quick to claim this "culture" if you can call it that, as their own? And why is the media not showing the other side of Clemson, where blacks throw exclusively black parties? There were even blacks there at the "gangsta" party...
What do you all think of this issue?

Do you think rappers and most people that say they are a thug is too chiche today?
Today there are so many rappers and mostly teenagers that say they are thugs. Not to be against rappers and all, but it seems today that they say there thugs this and thugs that. The way I see it a REAL thug is the one that rob and kill people, they don't wear gold teeth, diamond rings, and necklaces. Real thugs and gangsters was back in the 1910's-30's when Al Capone and Gotti was still alive, they didn't own just one block on the street they owned the half of the city. Plus they didn't run from the police they owned the police. Now that's Gangsta!!!

I agree with Pamela O that there is too much thug life encouraged in rap music today. But I must correct ErinfromOZ for saying that rap music sales are at all time low. Hip-hop sales are at an all time HIGH. Hip-hop is a very popular music genera right now because of all of the sex and drugs and thugs. It's sad but true.
